Need Tips on Budget-Friendly Home Renovation After Buying a House

I recently bought a house in New York and I'm running a bit low on funds. I have around $45k set aside for renovations, but unexpected expenses have added up, like a sewage line collapse that cost me about $14k. I have experience with carpentry and drywall, so I'm planning to do a lot of the work myself. I'm specifically looking for affordable options for interior doors (I need around 10-20), tile, flooring, and baseboard moldings. I'm wondering if Home Depot is the best place for doors at $100 each, or if I should consider others like Amazon or Wayfair? Any advice on where to shop for these materials would be greatly appreciated, as I'm a little anxious about running out of money before finishing the renovations.

You should definitely check out any used building supply stores nearby. They often have new materials at a fraction of the cost. I've saved a ton on doors by shopping there!

Before rushing into a full renovation, consider if every part needs to be done right now. If the house is livable, maybe focus on essentials first. That's something a lot of new homeowners overlook—trying to do everything at once can lead to overspending and having to redo things later on. Try pacing yourself and keep an eye on marketplace listings and clearance sales.

Definitely look into your nearest Builders First Source if you're in Middletown, NY. They have a liquidation area for new stock that might save you a ton, like I scored a sliding door for $200 that was originally over $2000! Also, local lumberyards can be great for competitive pricing and better quality materials.
