Any Gardening Tips for a Newbie Moving to SE Michigan?

Hey everyone! I'm excited to be moving to Southeast Michigan at the end of March, and my new place has a garden! I'm completely new to gardening and haven't planted anything before. I've always enjoyed flowers but have only ever bought them. Since I'm in zone 6a, can anyone advise me on what to plant now to have some beautiful spring flowers? I'd love any tips on timing and what to start with. Thanks a bunch!

Honestly, I’d hold off on planting anything until May. I lived in Michigan for a long time, and the weather can be pretty unpredictable. You wouldn’t believe how many times I had to cover my tomatoes with garbage cans because of late snow! Plus, it might be good to wait and see what the previous owners planted, since not all perennials show up at the same time. Let those little surprises reveal themselves!

Haha, that's good advice! But the previous owner is my boyfriend, and he only planted tomatoes, so I’m not expecting much else to bloom... Should I still wait until May?
