Can I safely remove my ceiling without damaging new decor?

I'm planning some extensive renovations with my ceiling removal scheduled for March 21st. A decorator is coming the following week, and new carpet is set to be installed on March 28th. However, I've just been informed that the ceiling can't be taken down until mid-April. I'm concerned about how to protect my newly painted walls and carpet during this process. Would using plastic dust sheets help prevent damage, or is there a better way to handle this?

Honestly, covering everything with plastic dust sheets might not cut it. These ceiling removals can get really messy, and dust will find a way to spread everywhere. If you don't want to ruin your new carpet and fresh paint, it might be smarter to just wait until they can do it properly. Remember, cleaning up drywall dust is no joke, and your new room might end up looking worse if they don't handle it right.

What type of ceiling are we looking at? If it’s plasterboard, that could complicate things. Just so you know, there's a chance it contains asbestos, which could really factor into your decision. If you're feeling stressed about the timeline, maybe it’s best to deal with the ugly ceiling for a bit longer. The last thing you want is a mess in your freshly done room.
