How to Care for Blackberry Starts Until Spring?

I recently bought some blackberry starts that came packed in plastic bags. The only instructions included are about planting them in the spring, but it seems odd to keep them in those bags until then. I did some online searching, but I couldn't find any useful information. What's the best way to take care of these starts until the weather warms up?

You might want to consider putting them into a 1-gallon nursery pot with some soil. Just make sure it's not too wet; there's no need to water them just yet!

They should be fine for now! Just keep them stored in a cool, dark place, like a garage. I usually order similar plants that come in bags and just leave them there until it's time to plant in spring.

Be cautious! Blackberries can get super invasive, especially depending on your location. If you're in a place where they thrive, it’s better to keep them in a pot to manage their growth.
