I recently moved into an apartment and I've noticed that a lot of spiders are getting in through the bathroom vent. I've already removed 14 spiders, and I'm worried about them taking over the rest of the place. I'm almost certain the vent isn't functioning since there's no airflow or heat coming from it. Is there a way I can block it from inside? I'm thinking of removing the grille, putting a cover on it, and then reinstalling the grille. Maybe something like fabric or a filter to prevent spiders from getting in, just in case the vent actually serves a purpose. Just to note, it's a circular vent with a diameter of about 8.5 or 9 inches.

A simple fix is to get some window screen material. You can tape it securely to either the vent cover or the wall around the vent to block those creepy crawlers. Should do the trick!
First things first, you might want to check with your landlord to see if the vent actually does anything. If it’s just there for looks, then covering it up is a great idea! Let them know about the spider situation too, just in case it’s a bigger issue.
