Is Pressure Treated Wood Safe for a Cat Tree?

My boyfriend and I are building a cat tree and we bought pressure treated (PT) wood from Home Depot. The wood is a bit damp, so we plan to leave it outside overnight. We want to stain and seal it with a water-resistant sealant once it's dry. If it's mostly dry by tomorrow, can we still use it? Also, is using PT wood a good idea for a cat tree?

Using pressure treated wood indoors, especially for something your cat will be hanging around, isn't the best call. PT wood is treated with chemicals that you probably don’t want your cat exposed to, even if they’re less toxic than before. Have you thought about using regular lumber instead? It might be a safer choice for your cat.

I didn't know that about the pressure treated wood! I just picked it up because it was the cheapest option. Thanks for the heads up!
