I'm looking for some long-lasting solutions to make my concrete back patio safer, especially after swimming since it gets really slippery when wet. I've already tried using 3M adhesive strips, cutting them into shapes to cover more area, but the adhesive doesn't last due to the direct sun. I'm considering a few ideas like using an angle grinder with a masonry blade to cut shallow lines, applying etching acid, or maybe creating a DIY cool decking. What do you think is the best approach? I'm pretty handy and detail-oriented, so I'm comfortable tackling this myself.

One option is to replace your current patio surface with non-slippery tiles or pavers, though that can get pricey. If that doesn’t appeal to you, you could try adding a grippy concrete paint that contains textured grit. It doesn’t give you the broom finish like you'd get from a proper concrete job, but it can help with traction!

I've seen people mix fine silica sand into concrete sealer for added grip. Just be aware it may wear off over time!
