I'm looking to get some renovations done and wanted to see if $10,000 is a reasonable price for the work I have in mind. The project includes moving a wall between two bedrooms (about 4 feet) to expand the master bedroom, using that extra space to create a walk-in closet with a pocket door, skimcoating the popcorn ceiling in three 12x12 bedrooms, and painting those same bedrooms. I live in Massachusetts, so I understand prices can be higher around here. Any thoughts on this?

If you're including a pocket door and some basic shelving in the closet, then that budget looks reasonable to me. Considering the amount of work involved, especially with the skimcoating and painting, it's understandable that it would cost a pretty penny. Plus, you’re in a higher cost of living area.
That sounds about right! Moving walls can be tricky, especially if they're load bearing, and making a custom closet along with the ceiling work and painting can quickly add up. You might want to check with other contractors for quotes, but $10k isn't out of the ballpark for those kinds of renovations.
Do you have plans for the flooring as well? That could potentially change the budget depending on what you decide to do. Just something to keep in mind!
