I'm renting an apartment and I've noticed a frustrating design flaw. There's a 10cm gap between the bathtub and the wall, causing water to pool there when I shower. I've never seen this before since most bathtubs fit flush against the wall. I'm considering buying a custom PVC pipe to fill the gap and then caulking it to ensure the water flows into the tub instead of accumulating. Is this a feasible solution? I've attached an image showing the issue.

That sounds super annoying! You might want to check with your landlord about getting a ceiling-mounted shower curtain rod or track. Honestly, you shouldn't have to fix that gap yourself since it's not your design. The landlord might not even realize there's an issue!
Honestly, any DIY fix could risk your security deposit if the landlord isn't cool with it. Maybe just mention it to them and see if they’ll cover it? Also, a spring tension shower rod with an extra shower curtain could help!
I had a similar setup with a clawfoot tub. You could try getting an oval ceiling-mount shower curtain bar and hanging some curtains. That might help keep the water contained!
Yeah, I’m thinking of bringing it up with them, but I’m not sure they’ll care. They just had someone come over to reapply caulk, which didn’t really help the situation.
