Is It Okay to Prefer Some Plants Over Others?

I've been into plants for about four years now, and when I started, I was just picking up whatever I could find, including plants people were giving away. Recently, I've been feeling more inclined to focus on the plants I truly love instead of trying to gather as many as possible. It's tough to think about letting go of the ones I don't adore, though! How do you handle this situation?

It's totally fine to have favorites! I usually tell my friend to take the plants I’m not into anymore and let her save them or they just end up dying. It clears up space and makes room for the ones I genuinely love.

No worries about loving some plants more than others! I actually give away the ones I don’t care for anymore. I work at a nursing home and I love gifting them to residents who can't access new plants. It makes both them and the plants happier!

What a great idea! I’d love to do the same but my plants are way too big to travel!

I tend to ignore the plants I don't like, and it feels like they thrive just to spite me! ? My least favorite is this ugly old aloe that I've kept in a steel teapot for years. I also have a monstera that I can’t stand but am always worried about damaging. Anyone else have plants that stick around just because?

Haha, my least favorites are a fern I bought thinking it would remind me of my mom, and a couple of ugly ficus I got for free. Turns out, I’m just not into ferns or succulents!

That aloe sounds legendary! Mine is a pathetic little fern that does nothing but sit and look sad!
