I'm dealing with some trouble regarding my basement sink. It drains into the sewer line, but I grow a lot of plants and often have potting soil, bits of bark, and perlite going down the drain. Plus, I use this sink in winter for washing the litter box, which isn't helping. My pump just broke due to all this junk, and I'm looking for tips or products to help prevent this from happening again. Any suggestions?

How about using a colander? It seems like an easy fix for catching larger chunks. But I get it could be tricky with all your plant setups underneath. You might need a more permanent solution if you've got a lot going on in that area.
I totally get your struggle! It’s really not ideal to have all that stuff go down the drain. A lot of people in plumbing circles recommend avoiding any waste that doesn’t belong there, like clay cat litter. Your best bet might be finding a way to dispose of that stuff outside instead of risking more pump issues.
