I recently bought a tall metal raised garden bed at a steal and I'm planning to cut it in half to maximize my planting area. I want to know how to safely seal the cut edges to keep them from rusting. To make the edges less sharp, I might add some foam or even bury the cut part in the ground. However, my main concern is protecting the exposed metal from moisture, which could speed up decay. Is there a food-safe sealant or protective coating available? Has anyone done something similar?

I think using Rust-Oleum paint could work well for sealing those cut edges and preventing rust. Just make sure to follow the instructions and check if they have a specific product that's safe for use around food plants. Good luck!
Just a heads up, I reached out to them, and they suggested against using any of their products for this purpose. You might want to look into other options.
