I'm moving into a new place and the lease prohibits gluing anything to the floor, so I'm looking for advice on how to lay tiles in the kitchen while ensuring they can be easily removed when I move out. I'm considering using a layer of cork or insulation foil under the tiles, but I don't have any experience with flooring. The area is small, about 5 square meters. Does anyone have suggestions or methods that could work?

Consider going with a floating floor option like LVP (luxury vinyl plank). It's pretty easy to install and very durable for kitchens. The stone-plastic-composite version resists water well, making it a solid choice for your space.
One option is to use thin plywood as a base for the tiles. Just remember that you'd need to screw the plywood down to keep everything stable and prevent cracks in the tiles. It's a bit more involved than just laying down tiles, but it could work.
Honestly, if I were in your shoes, I’d skip the tiles altogether. If you're looking for a temporary solution, vinyl plank flooring might be a better route. It looks nice and is easy to remove later without causing damage.
