Tips for Dealing with Chalky Wall Paint Before Repainting

Hey there! I'm in the middle of repainting my walls, but I'm running into an issue. The current paint has this annoying chalky texture that just won't stop coming off, even after I've washed it with sugar soap. I'm really worried that when I start painting, I'm going to end up with bubbles or other problems. Should I try using a sealant, keep washing it, or maybe just let it dry and buff it with a dry cloth? Any advice would be super helpful!

It sounds like your paint is in pretty rough shape if it's chalky and dusty. From my experience, if it's turning to putty when you wash it, you might want to skip the paint for now and consider a good primer instead. Primers can help seal the surface and prevent any bubbling once you go to repaint. Just make sure the walls are completely dry first! Also, try to do a moisture test; you don’t want to paint over damp walls.
