I've got this annoying 1-inch gap on the side of my bathtub that tends to collect water. I'm looking for suggestions on how to keep that area dry and maybe make it look better. Any advice would be appreciated!

You might want to use backer rod to fill in the gap first, then caulk it well. Make sure the backer rod is slightly larger than the gap so it's snug. A good caulking technique is to cut the tube no larger than 1/4 to 3/8 inch and at an angle for smooth application. Apply two beads, smooth them out, and then do a final bead to top it off. Let it cure properly for a waterproof layer!
You could even turn that gap into a small planter for succulents! It's definitely an odd design choice they made here, and it seems like it wouldn't pass inspection. I think it was intended for symmetry, but it just looks off, especially with the misaligned drain.
