I'm in the process of buying a house that features built-ins around the fireplace in the living room. I'm planning to take down the wall that separates the living room from the dining room, which runs right next to these built-ins. The challenge is figuring out how to handle the drywall that's attached to the built-ins. Should I just remove the entire wall and then find someone to put a veneer on the built-ins, or is it better to leave part of the wall intact? I've linked a photo for reference in the comments!

Have you checked your house plans or talked to a contractor about that wall? Personally, I think it could be easier to just widen the doorway instead of taking out the whole wall. That way, you maintain a solid header, which helps to avoid damaging those built-ins. Plus, be sure to check if it’s a load-bearing wall before you start! It sounds like a fun project, just plan it well!
Yeah, I confirmed it's not load-bearing. The dining room wall actually stops at the duct, which I’m keeping intact.
