Best Indoor Plants for Low Light Conditions?

Asked By GreenThumb_42 On

I'm on the hunt for some indoor plants that can thrive in low-light conditions since I prefer to keep my room pretty shaded. I've been using self-watering pots but noticed that my snake and jade plants have started to yellow and lose leaves. My room faces the sunrise but I keep the shades drawn all the time, so it gets a cloudy shade without direct sunlight. Any recommendations for plants that can handle this kind of environment? Thanks!

While it may seem shaded to you, your plants might not be getting enough light. Both snake plants and jade plants usually need brighter conditions. You might want to try spider plants or lucky bamboo. Spider plants are hardy and can handle different conditions as long as you don't overwater them. Lucky bamboo thrives in low light, so it might be a good fit!

I'll give those a try and let you know how they do!

I had similar issues with yellowing leaves; it could also be a sign of underwatering or a nutrient deficiency!

If your room is too dark, consider using grow lights! They can provide the right spectrum of light for your plants to thrive without needing full sun. Just place them close enough to your plants, and they should help a lot!

I have a tubelight in my room and some RGB lights from my PC; could that work like a grow light?

Not a dumb question! While they might help a bit, dedicated grow lights are usually more effective. Worth a try though!
