Are Monsteras Safe for Pets?

I'm considering getting a Monstera plant, but I want to know if it's safe to have around my pets. I have two dogs and a cat, and I've seen mixed information online about whether Monsteras are pet-friendly. I don't want to risk my pets' health, so if they're known to be harmful, I'd rather not get one. What do you think?

In general, aroids like Monsteras aren't considered "pet-friendly". There's really no plant that's completely safe for pets, aside from things like cat grass. If your pets are prone to chewing on plants, it might be better to steer clear of Monsteras entirely.

It mostly depends on whether your pets will try to eat your plants. Most aroids can cause irritation due to calcium oxalate crystals, which can lead to discomfort if ingested. Cats can be especially curious, so they may reach plants easily. If you're concerned, keeping plants out of their reach or choosing other pet-safe options might be your best bet!
