Where Should We End Our Kitchen Backsplash?

My wife and I are debating where to stop our kitchen backsplash in two tricky spots:

1. For the area above the sink by the window, should we run the tile all the way up to the ceiling or just to the bottom of the wall cabinets? Our contractor suggests going up to the ceiling, but I'm concerned about how it will look in the narrow space between the window trim and cabinets.

2. In the corner, we installed an angled base cabinet that sticks out further than the wall cabinet to open up the walkway. We can't decide if we should end the tile at the edge of the countertop or continue it all the way to the door trim. The contractor recommends stopping at the countertop edge, but we thought running it to the trim might offer a cleaner finish. Any thoughts would really help!

1. You could go either way for the sink area, but I lean towards stopping at the cabinets.
2. Definitely stop at the counter's edge for the angled cabinet. That way, if you ever change the trim, you won’t have to stress about matching it with the tile.

Just a backsplash in both spots is best. For the window, putting tile above it just creates a hassle for installers with that awkward space.
And for the angled cabinet, use a schluter edge for a finished look throughout. If you can adjust things slightly with fillers around the microwave and stove to make it work better, that could smooth out the whole look!

For the area above the sink, I'd suggest stopping at the bottom of the upper cabinets. Running the tile all the way up in such a tight space could look a bit awkward.
As for the angled base cabinet, I think you should run the tile to the door frame trim. Leaving a little painted strip there wouldn’t look great.
