I'm curious about the legality and ethics of taking cuttings from native plants while out in local woods, walking spots, and hedges. I'm thinking of adding some native plants to my garden, and I believe using locally-sourced plants can be a responsible choice. But is it sensible and morally okay to do so? Are there any legal restrictions I should be aware of?

As long as you’re not seriously harming the plant, taking cuttings can be a great way to create a more natural garden that fits your area.
It’s generally illegal to uproot plants, but you can pick cuttings as long as the plants aren’t protected species. Just double-check what you're collecting to make sure it’s okay!
