Hey folks! I'm considering upgrading my old 3HP cast iron table saw, which has a faulty fence, to a SawStop CTS for added safety. The problem is, the only options available here in New Zealand are the CTS model for around 2.3k or the more expensive cabinet saws starting at 7.3k. My budget only allows for the CTS, but I'm worried about the performance differences compared to my current saw. I plan on building a mobile workbench to enhance the CTS's tabletop area, so I'm weighing the pros like improved safety and portability against potential cons such as stability, power, and the fact it comes with a universal motor. Has anyone faced a similar decision? What do you think?

Honestly, if your current saw is in decent shape, you might be better off investing in a higher-quality fence instead. The quality and stability of your cast iron table will be hard to beat with a contractor model like the CTS. I get that safety is a big deal, but are you really going to feel safe with a saw that might be less stable than what you've been using?
I get what you're saying, but I've considered getting a Biesmeyer-style fence myself. It's pricey, though—more than the CTS! I'm hoping that attaching the CTS to a sturdy workbench will help with stability.
