Hey everyone! I'm curious if anyone has tried the spokeshave jig from KM Tools. I'm especially wondering if it's suitable for sharpening short spokeshave blades. What do you all think?

Freehand sharpening works way better for spokeshave blades! I just did it while contouring a rosewood smoother, and I found it much easier to control without a guide. If you grind accurately, you can use one solid stone to get the job done, then polish off the burr with a buffer or some compound. It's all about getting the angle right.

What would you suggest for someone new to this? I really struggle with sharpening!

I got this jig under the Narex brand, and honestly, I don't find it very useful for spokeshave blades. It can work okay for chisels and plane blades, but it's pretty fussy and not very accurate. I wouldn't recommend it for spokeshaves at all.
