Struggling to Keep My Plants Alive with ADHD – Any Tips?

I'm a huge fan of plants and thriving gardens, but my ADHD makes it super tough to give them the care they need. Too often, they slip my mind and I forget they're even there! Sometimes I do remember, but then I get caught in that task paralysis where I just can't bring myself to take action. I really want to keep my plants alive, so I'd love any advice on managing my forgetfulness and staying on top of their care!

I totally get you! One trick that really helped me was to get enough plants so they’re always in my line of sight. The constant visual reminder makes it hard to forget about them. I’ve got a bunch of them now—almost like a small jungle—and it’s much easier to keep up with them that way!

Great idea! When they’re all begging for water, it’s definitely hard to ignore them.

I stick to plants that can handle a little neglect, like pothos and dracaenas. They’re pretty forgiving and can bounce back even if I forget to water them for a while. I just cut the vines now and then to propagate them when they get scraggly. Plus, starting seeds can be less stressful—growing them from seeds feels fun and there’s no guilt if some don’t make it!

Yes! Tradescantia is also super easy; it thrives even on my neglect. Once a month watering does the trick!

Self-watering pots have been a game changer for me! They keep the moisture balanced, so I don’t have to worry too much about keeping track of watering times. I’ve grown some plants in them that I've never had success with before. It feels great getting to enjoy gardening without the stress!

I’ve heard those are amazing—definitely need to give them a shot!
