I recently had my exterior concrete block stucco property in Florida painted. The company used a clear primer followed by two coats of Sherwin Williams Egret White. My house was originally bright yellow, and while the painting is done, I still see a yellow undertone. Is it common practice to use a clear primer for such jobs, especially in Florida? It feels unusual to me, and I'm curious if this is standard in the industry.

Clear sealers and primers do exist, but it’s a bit odd for a project like yours. Generally, a white primer would have been better for covering your bright yellow base. Since the job is done, your options might be limited to adding another coat if the yellow is still prominent. Many painters have their favorite products that they've seen work well, but it sounds like it might not have been the best choice here.
