Hey everyone, I'm currently trying to plant a Japanese peach tree and the recommended soil mix includes 40% wood bark compost and 60% Red Earth Ball Akadama. Unfortunately, I can't find Akadama in my area and I've also had no luck with finding horticultural pumice. Does anyone have any suggestions for substitutes or know where I might find it locally? I'm based in West Virginia.

If you're in a hurry, you could check Amazon for Akadama. It's usually pretty affordable there, but I understand you need something quick. Have you considered using a mix of high-quality potting soil with some perlite or coarse sand? That can help improve drainage, similar to Akadama.
