How Can I Prevent Scratches on My Dark Blue Painted Walls?

I've started painting my room a dark blue using flat paint, but I've noticed that the walls around my bed are already getting scratched up, revealing white underneath. I have a dog, so while some of the scratches might be from me, I know a lot are from him. What can I do to prevent further scratching of the paint?

It sounds like you're dealing with scratching before the paint has fully cured, which can happen. You'll likely need to repaint those scratched areas to cover them up. Once the paint is cured, the best way to avoid scratches is to minimize any contact with the walls. Just a heads up, even cured paint can be susceptible to dog nails, especially if you're using flat paint, as it's not as durable as glossier finishes. Consider a more durable paint for future touch-ups if needed!

Ugh, I didn't realize it needed more curing time! How long does that usually take?
