I'm curious about the choice of using multiple strand 4mm wire for the DC connections from the panel array to the inverter, instead of going with the more standard 2.5mm solid core house wire. The wire is rated for 1000v and 20 amps, which seems sufficient for the application, so I'm wondering what the reasoning behind this choice might be. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Stranded wires are often preferred in DC systems because they're more flexible and less prone to fatigue over time, especially in permanent installations. Skin effect isn't really a concern for DC, and the 4mm rating should handle your voltage and current without any issues. I get that other types of wire are available, but stranded wires just tend to work better for these setups.

Right! Plus, I don't see how solid core would really outperform stranded here unless you're looking for something rigid. It's good to know they’re up to the task.
