Should I Choose the M12 or M18 Fuel Combo Kit for DIY Projects?

Hey everyone! I'm looking into getting my first Milwaukee tools and I'm torn between two options. There's the M12 Fuel 2 combo kit for $150 after returning a battery, and then there's the M18 Fuel 2 combo kit which costs $275 after the return. As a DIY enthusiast, I want to know if spending an extra $125 on the M18 set is worth it.

I’d recommend going with the M12. The extra torque and RPM of the M18 isn’t something you’ll notice much for DIY tasks, but you might feel the increased weight of the M18. It's just not necessary for most home projects.

Totally agree! I do high-end residential work and I find myself using the M12 almost all the time.

I bought the M12, and it’s done just fine for me as a new homeowner. However, I found that some yard tools like blowers are better suited for the M18 platform, especially for larger lawns. If I could do it again, I might just get the M18 to have a consistent battery setup, even though they are pricier!

Good point! Having the same battery system definitely makes things easier when adding more tools.

I recently got the M18 since I wanted that extra power just in case. For a DIYer, it hasn't been too much of a hassle with the weight, but I’ve also realized that I don’t need that power very often. By the way, I didn’t know you could return the free battery for cash; I just kept mine!
