Best Finish Options for Butcher Block Countertops?

I need to replace a small section of my kitchen countertop that got damaged while I was taking out a broken dishwasher. The new piece will be a butcher block, around 2.5 feet wide and placed directly over the dishwasher. Since this area mainly stores dog treats and other miscellaneous items, I'm looking for recommendations on what finish to use. I've got a week to get it installed, so I need to make a decision soon. Any advice would be appreciated!

Just keep in mind that using those finishes on a countertop above a dishwasher can cause issues due to moisture. They might warp over time, so consider something more durable. A good wood conditioner or a more water-resistant finish could be a better choice for that specific spot.

I've dealt with similar projects! For finishes, I recommend either a 50-50 mix of pure tung oil and citrus solvent or a 30-70 mixture of beeswax and mineral oil. Both options are easy to apply and offer decent longevity before requiring maintenance. Personally, I tend to prefer the beeswax mix for its polishability, but for larger surfaces like a countertop, I'd lean towards the pure tung oil mixture since it's simpler to apply regularly and smells nice too. Danish oil is also an option, but I find it doesn't last longer than these and can be pricey.
