I recently got a Monstera Peru, and after a year of growth, I need to prune it back. I'm curious if cutting it will encourage branching, similar to what happens with Pothos. I had to rearrange my plant because it was reaching the top of the pole, and instead of making the pole taller, I'd prefer it to fill out more. I've temporarily wrapped some vines around the pole, but I'm wondering about the branching behavior of Monstera Peru when cut.

Yeah, it should branch out when you cut it! From my experience with aroids, they often send out multiple new growth points after a prune. It can be a bit random whether you get one shoot or several, though.
While I can't confirm if it will branch, I suggest rooting the cuttings. Once they have roots, you could replant them in the same pot to help your Monstera look fuller. Just a thought!
