I have a contractor coming back to fix some work that wasn't done right, and he's offered to do it for free. I feel like it might be nice to give him something for the trouble since it's costing him time and materials. Should I just let it be, or is there a way to show my appreciation without needing to pay him again?

Totally agree, you paid for the whole scope of work already. It's just fair that he corrects his mistake without you having to fork out more cash. If you like, a simple thank you or maybe a small treat like snacks could go a long way!
If this was a genuine mistake on his part, then it’s part of his job to fix it without charging you again. Sending him some coffee or snacks while he's working could be a nice touch to show your appreciation!
You shouldn’t have to pay anything extra since you already fulfilled your part of the contract. He’s taking care of the mistake, which is part of his responsibility. If you want to show appreciation, maybe refer him to friends or leave a positive review instead.
