I'm not great with plants, but I really want to try growing some indoors, particularly in my bedroom or living room. I've been checking out some low-maintenance plants that are beginner-friendly, but I also need to ensure they're not toxic to pets. Any recommendations or tips for someone new to indoor gardening? Thanks in advance!

I've got a bunch of the plants you're looking into, and although they're all toxic to pets, my dogs have never bothered them. That said, if you're concerned, I suggest going for spider plants, prayer plants, or parlor palms—none of these are toxic. Spider plants are super easy to grow; I have plenty in my home. I keep some in water and others in soil. The parlor palm is great too; it's the least demanding of all my plants. I just put it outside in the summer and let the rain take care of it. The prayer plant is a bit pickier though; it prefers bottom watering.
Just a heads-up, make sure your plants get enough light! Some articles claim certain plants can survive in the dark, but they really need decent lighting. You can use sunlight or get some grow lights. They come in regular shapes so they'll fit in with your usual lamps, and they'll provide just the right lighting your plants need without being too obvious.
I swear by pothos, syngonium, dracaena corn plant, tillandsia, and ZZ plants for low maintenance. Just mind the watering! And if you don't have all-day sunlight, you'll need grow lights to keep them happy indoors.
Thanks! Watering can be tricky for me sometimes since I tend to overwater. But I heard pothos can thrive in just water, right?
Yep, pothos is perfect for that! Just change the water regularly.

I actually have a small grow light, so that helps! Thanks for the tip! ?
