What’s the Best Thickness for a Solid Wood Standing Desk?

I'm in the process of getting a new standing desk for my setup and I'm weighing my options for the thickness of the wood. I've seen recommendations ranging from 1" to 2", but I'm curious about whether the thickness really matters. I've heard that thinner bamboo tops might cause the monitor to wobble when typing, while heavier, thicker butcher blocks can help with stability. I definitely don't want to deal with warping after a year or two. Has anyone had firsthand experience with this thickness debate? I'm also considering making a desk from scratch with a thick top and an affordable frame, but I'm a bit unsure about the best approach.

You want to make sure your desk is well-supported to avoid warping. A 2-inch thickness might seem great, but if the support is only on the edges, it could eventually warp under weight. It all comes down to how well the base can support that top!

Would adding a center support bar do enough to prevent sagging?
