I'm renting an airplane hangar without electricity and I'm looking to create a reliable off-grid power system. I want to power a small 10x10 room with an air conditioner while also wiring the rest of the hangar for lighting and occasional use of tools like an air compressor or a small table saw. I would like the option to connect a portable generator to keep my batteries charged during peak usage. Are there any pre-made kits that would work well for this setup? I'm willing to learn, but I'm feeling overwhelmed by the different products and prices out there. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

First off, check what you can install in terms of solar panels. If you can't put up a significant array, a battery and inverter system that charges from a generator could be your best bet. You'll likely need more power than a few simple solar panels can provide. Since you're renting, it might not make sense to invest in a big panel array either. Also, consider getting a highly efficient air conditioner; investing a bit more there can save you energy in the long run.
I actually have a large flat roof and was told I can do anything I want with it! It’s about 40x25 and I don't think the trees will block too much sunlight. I've been waiting ages for a hangar and finally got this one because it doesn’t have power, plus it's on a grass strip, which is rare these days.
