How Can I Get My Peace Lily to Flower Again?

Asked By PlantLover42 On

I purchased a peace lily two months ago, and it had beautiful flowers when I first brought it home. However, after an initial shock, I ended up cutting off the flowers and watering it, thinking it had died. Now, I'm eager to get it to flower again! I've been watering it about once a week, haven't used any fertilizer yet, and occasionally move it to a location with dappled light. The temperature in my home is generally around 72°F. What are the best tips to encourage flowering in my peace lily?

Peace lilies typically flower once a year. Sometimes they may flower more often, but they often need some recovery time in between. Nurseries tend to use hormones to get them to bloom on cue for sale, so without those special conditions, they'll flower less frequently at home, usually not as many at once. Just be patient, as it may take time for yours to produce more blooms.

Thanks! I had no idea they only flowered once a year. Is that different based on climate?
