I'm looking to add some inspiration for my summer garden and would love to hear about your favorite perennial plants. Specifically, what varieties thrive well in shady areas?

I’m a big fan of Hydrangeas. They might seem a bit old-fashioned, but when placed just right, they can bloom beautifully in summer and change colors beautifully into autumn.

Astilbe and Heuchera are two of my favorites! They really brighten up the shady parts of my garden and seem to fend off slugs pretty well. I've also got some native Foxgloves, Aquilegia, and Geraniums in there along with a big fern. In winter, my Hellebores are lovely!

These are so pretty!

I've grown a lot of Heuchera from seed and Astilbe from roots—such a rewarding experience!
