I'm looking to update my tub and shower area, but I need some advice on dealing with the tiled ceiling in my alcove. The ceiling is tiled all around, and since it's a single-story home, the attic is right above the shower. I anticipate that removing the ceiling will cause all the attic insulation to spill into the shower area. I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions on how to minimize this mess and if there's a way to reinstall insulation without needing to crawl into the attic. Also, would it be okay to leave that small space above the shower without insulation?

Consider using a rake or something to push the insulation away from where you'll be working. If you can stand near the attic entrance, that could help, but it sounds like you have quite a reach to the shower area—12 to 15 feet sounds tricky!
You might actually be able to take off the ceiling tiles without damaging the backer board if the installation was done well. Just be careful when removing them. Good luck with your project!
It might be easier to pull the insulation out of the way before starting on the ceiling. Just a thought—less mess that way!
I can't really get around in my attic. It's a tight fit, so I’d have to crawl everywhere, and that’s just not possible for me.
Yeah, unfortunately, the attic opening is just too far from the shower for that to work.
