I recently finished my new butcher block by applying tung oil, but I wanted a harder finish. After visiting Lowe's, I was advised to add an oil-based polyurethane on top, specifically using Minwax in semi-gloss. However, it's been over 24 hours, and the finish still looks awful and is super tacky. What can I do to fix this?

The problem is likely that the solvents in the polyurethane mixed with the uncured tung oil, which can lead to a tacky finish. You should strip off both finishes and then choose either oil or polyurethane moving forward. If you decide on oil again, dilute the first coat with turpentine and use thin coats, letting them dry completely in between. Remember, while oil is traditional for butcher blocks, it might not look as good as a polyurethane finish if you're not planning to chop on it much.
It sounds like you might want to switch to a water-based polyurethane in a matte finish. It dries faster, has less odor, and gives a more natural look. To fix your current issue, let that tacky finish dry, then sand it off and start anew. It's not a huge problem, just a pain to deal with!
You may have applied the polyurethane too thickly. Try using a fan to help it dry out. It should dry eventually, though it can take some time.
