Hey folks! I'm currently in a situation where I can't get my hands on any whittling or carving knives due to some personal reasons. I've been trying to make do with a reversible cutter, but the results just aren't cutting it! What would you all suggest as good alternatives to the traditional whittling knives?

Check out what folks like Lynn O Doughty do with a Stanley utility knife (model nr199). He makes amazing pieces just by polishing the factory edge. You don’t really need anything fancy, especially if you're working with soft woods like basswood. Just keep your tools sharp, and you'll be good!
You can totally use a box cutter! I saw this guy on Instagram doing some impressive stuff with it. Plus, you can just swap out the blades when they get dull, so no sharpening required!
I’ve seen people have great success with X-Acto knives too. They can be really precise, which might help you get those clean cuts you're looking for!
