I know it sounds unconventional, but have you considered using a saddle valve? It could work to cover the hole. Just make sure you check if it's suitable for your situation.
The best approach here is to replace that section of the pipe. Trust me, no quick fixes will work since it's a pressurized line. Once water starts leaking, it's too late for patches or tape; they just won't hold. Replacing the pipe is definitely the way to go!
