Hey everyone! I'm planning to make the most of my second lot by planting a garden and some fruit trees along the edges. I've got some experience with vegetable gardening and fruit bushes, but I'm diving into fruit trees for the first time. I'm thinking about planting peaches, along with a couple of apple trees and maybe a fig tree. My plot is roughly 60'x40', and I'm in Zone 7. I'm looking for any advice, pro tips, or even horror stories to watch out for before I invest a couple of hundred bucks on trees that could potentially die. Also, if you have any recommendations on where to buy healthy fruit trees, I'd appreciate that too. Thanks a ton!

You might want to check out your local extension office—they often have great resources and guides on planting orchards that are specific to your region. If you're in the U.S. and especially on the West Coast, I can recommend some awesome publications that can help. By the way, are you sure you're in Zone 7? Just confirming because it seems broad!
Just a heads up, many fruit trees like apples need another variety nearby for proper pollination, so keep that in mind when choosing what to plant!
I'm in Virginia, so I figured the trees I choose based on local growth patterns would do well. I’m a bit unsure about the figs, though—I just saw some young saplings for cheap and thought it was a low-risk option!
