I just moved into a new place with a huge south-facing wall of glass and I'm looking for a houseplant that can really take advantage of that space. I want something that can grow really tall (like 20 feet if possible!), but it shouldn't be too wide, as I'm concerned about it getting in the way. I already have a lot of smaller plants, but I'm hoping to add a tall, green friend to brighten up the area. I was thinking a big ficus might be nice, but I worry that the branches would be too wide and I might bump into them while walking through the living room. Any recommendations for tall but slender plants? Thanks for all the beautiful plant pics everyone!

Bird of paradise plants can grow quite tall, but make sure you manage how much light they get. Given your situation with about 6 hours of full sun, too much light can actually be an issue—especially with that much glass! Just something to keep in mind!
You might want to try a pothos! If you set it up to climb a plank, it can grow really tall and the leaves will get bigger, plus they can even develop those cool fenestrations. In their natural habitat, they can reach up to 60 feet, so they can definitely fill that space!

Have you considered a Sansevieria Trifasciata, also known as snake plant? They grow upright and thrive in direct sunlight. Plus, if you're adventurous, you could hang a vining plant from the ceiling—it could really grow downwards and create an interesting look!

I am a little worried about too much light. Is that possible? It's about 6 hours of full sun, very bright from many windows......there is more glass than wood in that wall, if that makes sense.
