I know that the M18 line is generally more powerful and versatile, but I'm looking to build a solid collection of M12 tools as well. Can anyone share which M12 tools they think are a waste of money because they lack power compared to the M18? I'm interested in understanding which ones might be better to skip.

I regularly use M12 tools in my work (mostly office installations) and the compact vacuum didn't meet my expectations as it struggles with heavier debris. However, the impact driver, drill, and multi-tool have performed well for smaller tasks. If you're doing heavier work, M18 might be your best bet, but for lighter jobs, M12 is so convenient!

I've heard mixed reviews on certain M12 tools like the SDS, blower, and vacuum. If there's a Fuel version, definitely opt for that instead. I switched from the M12 inflator to the M18 and the difference was huge, but I do think the M12 Fuel hackzall gets the job done for lighter tasks. Essentials like ratchets and the cut-off saw are definitely worth it, even if they're not the most powerful!
I think M18 isn't always the better choice. The M12 Fuel series, for instance, is fantastic and can actually outperform some M18 products. The M12 Stubby impact wrenches have no M18 counterpart and are among the best from Milwaukee. Limiting yourself to just one platform might mean missing out on some great tools!
