Questions About Creating a Portable Monitor from an Old Laptop

Hi everyone! I'm in the process of transforming my old HP Pavilion DV6 into a portable monitor, specifically using the Samsung LTN156AT05 screen. I have a few questions I need help with: 1. Where can I find the cheapest controller board? The best price I've found so far is $22.1 on AliExpress. 2. Do I need to keep the original backlight? 3. When I connect it to my PC, does the HDMI provide enough power? 4. Can I use USB power from my phone as an alternative?

1. You can find the controller board for around $12 on AliExpress (look for **RR52C.03A**). 2. You don’t really need to worry about the original backlight; just connect the panel to the new controller directly. 3. Unfortunately, HDMI won’t supply enough power; it usually only provides about 300 mA. 4. This panel needs about 7-8 Watts, so only using USB power from a cellphone won't be enough - you'll need something that can supply 6-20 volts for the backlight.
