I'm about to close on a house that uses a well for water, and the inspector mentioned that the water pressure is as good as it gets for a well system. However, I'm dreaming of having a shower with pressure like a fire hose. I've been looking into shower pumps but want to know if there are any downsides or what other options might exist for ramping up the shower pressure. Any thoughts?

If you're serious about upgrading, just keep in mind that you might need more than just a pump—you might also require a holding tank, some pipes, and a mix of valves depending on your existing setup. Just ask what your current gpm and pressure are to see if your system can handle a pump.
You might not even need a pump. There are shower heads designed to work well even at lower pressures. I've had great luck with basic Waterpik shower heads. They really pump out water well!
Before you dive in, it's worth looking into how pressure and flow rate work. Sometimes it's not just about increasing pressure but finding the right balance—especially with shower head laws in the US that limit flow rates. You're gonna want to figure out what your current pressure is in psi to start!
That’s a solid point! Knowing the pressure helps gauge options. It's also smart to check on straight piping without too many restrictions.

I had a great experience with a handheld from Oxyginetics. It has two settings, where one feels like a pressure washer. Definitely worth considering!
