I'm looking for advice on how to make my concrete patio safer for my toddler, who loves to run around but tends to trip and fall often. I also need a solution that allows for water drainage since we want to set up a kiddy pool for him to play in and he'll be getting in and out of it regularly. Any ideas?

While a bit pricey, you can find large rubber mats from restaurant suppliers designed to handle spills and splashes. They offer good drainage and comfort, although they don’t look the best. Might be worth considering if safety is your top priority!
Have you thought about using those foam puzzle mats? They’re often used in workshops and playrooms, providing a cushioned surface that can help prevent falls. Just keep in mind they might not be great at draining water underneath, so you might want to test that out first.

Do they actually drain well? I wouldn’t want water pooling underneath!
