Looking for Clear UV-Blocking Films That Won’t Alter Window Appearance

Hey everyone! I've got a bookcase right next to a window in my spare room, and I want to keep my books, figures, and decorations safe from UV damage. Is there a UV-blocking film I can apply to the glass that won't tint or change the window's appearance? I'm hoping to prevent any discoloration over the coming months and years without affecting the look of the glass too much.

3M has some options, but keep in mind that many of their films require professional installation. It really depends if you want to apply them on the outside or inside of the glass. Inside is usually easier and cheaper, but external films tend to last longer against the elements. Just make sure you choose one that's less tinted if that's a concern for you!

You might want to check out films that have a high UV blocking percentage—like a 90% film. They’re really light and effective at blocking UV rays without tinting your windows too much.

For home use, you can consider a few high-quality clear UV-blocking films:
1. 3M Prestige Series PR 70 – Blocks up to 99.9% of UV rays and is nearly invisible.
2. 3M Ultra Clear Safety & Security Film – Provides UV protection and added security.
3. Llumar UVShield Clear Window Film – Blocks 99% of UV rays while keeping a natural look.
4. Solar Gard UV Clear Film – Designed to reduce fading without changing window appearance.
5. Madico UV Gard – Ideal for homes with large windows and valuable items.

You can install these yourself or hire professionals, depending on your preference. Some also help with heat reduction without darkening the glass, which might be useful.
