How to Build an Expandable Plane Rack?

Asked By BuilderX89 On

I'm looking to design a plane rack that allows for future expansion. Right now, I have a #4, #4 1/2, #5 1/2, and #7 plane, but I'm considering getting a #8 and a few various plow planes in the future. What's the best way to create a storage solution that's compact yet flexible enough to accommodate these changes without wasting space?

I made some leather hangers for my planes and mounted them on a French cleat setup. This way, I can rearrange or add more as needed. I'm currently restoring a #8, so I'm figuring out how to fit that in as well. Check out this pic of my setup!

Wow, that's a great idea! I never thought of using a French cleat for planes. I definitely need to start planning one of those walls.
