Can something be actually wrong if it still works?

I've had a single shower/tub combo in my house since I bought it 12 years ago, but I know the previous owners did some renovations. They've added new drainage for the tub to connect with the existing pipes I can see in my unfinished garage. Whenever a plumber checks it out, they mention that the setup looks poorly done and improperly routed. However, I've never experienced any leaks or issues, even when I'm using both the shower and tub. So, I'm wondering—can things still be considered 'incorrect' if they function well over the years?

Exactly, if it’s not causing issues, it usually isn't a priority. Still, asking why the plumbers think it’s wrong might help clarify—like is it just an eyesore or are they concerned about functionality? If everything’s working fine, you might be okay for now!

Yeah, that’s common. It might not be safe; for plumbing, that could mean a risk of backups and wastewater issues. A lot of people live with these kinds of problems because they don’t notice them until they cause real trouble.

Definitely! Just because something works doesn’t mean it’s done right. Many fixes are done half-heartedly, and while they might function for a while, they could pose safety risks down the line or fail earlier than expected.
