Hey everyone! I'm in the market for a table saw but my budget is tight. I've come across some old Craftsman 113 table saws in decent condition for around $100. I'm also considering newer models of Craftsman that are similarly priced when they go on sale. I know the fence system can be an issue with both. So, which option do you think is better: the older models or the newer ones?

I’ve used several saws over the years, and I currently have a pre-1960 Craftsman 113. It’s pretty reliable—made some solid cuts! I did switch out the fence for a better one, but I run it frequently and it does the job beautifully. Just keep in mind, you might want to upgrade some parts on older models, depending on their condition.
I'd really avoid going for a new Craftsman for that price. The older 113 models have a ton of solid features—like a cast iron top and a durable outboard motor. You just can't compare them to the newer ones, which tend to fall apart pretty quickly. With a bit of care, that old Craftsman could serve you well for many years!
Old Craftsman table saws are a great deal! You can often find them cheaply, and they come with solid features. Just look for one with a cast iron table and extensions—those are the best for longevity.
